1-The two Jharkhand girls who are now training with the India U-20 Women’s National Team in Chennai are Sumati Kumari and Amisha Baxla. They are preparing for the upcoming SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship, which will be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from February 3–9, 2023.
2-Pistol shooter Jaspal Rana, an Olympian and recipient of the Padma Shri award, has been re-elected without opposition as the head of the Delhi State Rifle Association (DSRA).
- Rana won gold medals at the 1994 Asian Games, 1998 Commonwealth Games, 2002 Commonwealth Games, 2006 Commonwealth Games, and 2006 Asian Games while competing in the 25m centre fire pistol division.
- At the age of 18, he received the Arjuna Award, the second-highest honour for sporting excellence. In 1997, he received the fourth-highest civilian honorary title, the Padma Shri.
- In 2020, the same year that his two students Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary won the Arjuna Award, he was given the Dhronacharya Award.

3-To become a new football powerhouse in Asia, the All-India Football Federation (AIFF) earlier this month unveiled its strategic blueprint, dubbed “Vision 2047.”
- India will be one of the top seven Asian nations by 2036, the centennial of the Federation, and a strong candidate to qualify for the World Cup on merit, according to AIFF Secretary General Shaji Prabhakaran.
4-A hot topic of conversation right now is the continuing dispute between the wrestlers and the Wrestling Federation of India, specifically its president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who female wrestlers have accused of sexual harassment.
5-In an unprecedented move, India’s top wrestlers, including Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and others, protested against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on January 18 at Jantar Mantar in the country’s capital, levelling serious allegations of sexual harassment against him and the federation’s coaches.

7-Manika Batra, a Star Indian table tennis player who had a challenging year both on and off the court, is slowly but steadily rediscovering her mojo, which is encouraging for Indian sports.
- Manika has competed well in recent competitions and appears to be in good shape for an outstanding season ahead after putting her 2022 Commonwealth Games “horror show” behind her. After an outstanding semi-final performance at the WTT Contender Doha, she climbed to a career-high position of 33 on Tuesday in the women’s singles world rankings published by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
8-Professional Indian boxer Neeraj Goyat has now come out with alarming claims against the Boxing Federation of India, a week after the nation’s best wrestlers revolted against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and its President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh (BFI).
- The Haryana fighter told IANS that the BFI is equally as good as the WFI.

13-Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, the defending champions, and Katerina Siniakova won the 2023 Australian Open championship in Melbourne on Sunday, extending their remarkable Grand Slam winning streak.

14-Krejcikova and Siniakova have won 24 straight women’s doubles matches at Grand Slam tournaments. They reached the semifinals in 2020 and finished second in 2021 before winning the title last year.
15-Krejcikova and Siniakova originally paired up as juniors in 2013, winning three of the four girls’ doubles titles that year. Together, the pairing has won 14 titles on the women’s tour.
