1. The Oreva Group director Jaysukh Patel was listed as the primary accused in a 1,262-page charge sheet that the Gujarat police filed on Friday in the Morbi bridge collapse case.

  • Ashok Yadav, the inspector general of police for Rajkot region, told the reporters that a charge sheet had been filed against 10 people, nine of whom had been arrested and the director was still at large.

2-Saket Gokhale, a leader of the Trinamool Congress who was detained in connection with a money laundering investigation, has been placed in the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) custody until January 31, an official said on Wednesday.

  • He was detained by the ED and appeared in court in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

3-On Wednesday, a court in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district found the accused Bhikkhaji Thakor guilty of three murders that occurred in 2019 — all of the victims were members of his family — and gave him the death penalty.

4-With effect from January 31, the Gujarati government promoted Additional Chief Secretary Raj Kumar to the position of Chief Secretary of the state on Wednesday.

  • On January 31, when Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar leaves his position, he will take over.

5-The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has stated that it will not protest the Gujarat premiere of the Shah Rukh Khan film “Pathaan.”

  • Ashok Raval, the state secretary of the VHP, informed its employees of this news through video message. According to Raval, there are 40 sequences in the film that are offensive to Hindus, and the Bajrang Dal and VHP have vowed to protest it.

6-The governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, will deliver a speech to open the Gujarat Assembly’s budget session on February 23.

7-The Vadodara district doctor Kamlesh Ode and his wife Nayna were detained by the Surat rural police for snatching a child. After six years, the police finally solved the case.

8-After a Class 8 student and her parents made severe claims against other hostel inmates, a commotion broke out in the renowned Arya Kanya Gurukul in Porbandar.

  • They claim that the hostel females are coerced into having lesbian relationships. The principal and management of Gurukul have denied these accusations, calling them an effort to harm the institute’s reputation.

9-When deciding on a sentence in a case involving the illegal transportation of cows and bulls, Judge Samir Vinod Chandra Vyas of the Tapi District Court noted that “Science has proven that dwellings made of cow dung may protect from radioactive radiation.”

10-As part of its campaign against “loan sharks” who are robbing civilians and, by intimidation and threatening behaviours, even causing some borrowers to commit suicide, police in Gujarat’s Surat have chosen to assist people in acquiring loans at lower interest rates.

11-A tribal lady was allegedly assaulted after being made to strip off by her family members who called her a “witch” and forced her to do so.

  • In some parts of the Aravalli district and North Gujarat, a video of the occurrence has circulated.

12-A woman constable who had been missing since Monday and had been assigned to Dabhoi was located and transferred to the Desar Police station in Vadodara.

13- Rajasthan Police have filed charges under the POCSO Act against Gujarat’s Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Gajendrasinh Parmar and a man named Mahesh Patel from Himatnagar for sexually assaulting a young girl.

14-According to a party leader on Friday, the Congress Discipline Committee punished 38 members and leaders for engaging in anti-party activity during the December 2022 Gujarat Assembly elections.

15 – Four people were detained for importing IMFL alcohol into Sabarkantha, including two Gujarat Police constables.

  • The four people were detained by the Sabarkantha Local Crime Branch (LCB) while attempting to smuggle whisky made in India into foreign countries worth Rs 34,000.
  • The two police officers are employed by the Aravalli district administration.
