3-Odisha and Hockey India have done all possible to make the 2023 Men’s FIH World Cup celebration at the historic Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on January 11 a magnificent occasion.

4-To commemorate the 2023 Men’s FIH World Cup, the Odisha government has declared Wednesday, January 11, a half-day holiday for all state-run schools.

  • The state government has also declared Wednesday, starting at 1500 hours, a half-day holiday for all institutes of technical and professional education. For direct telecast of the event, the government has installed LCD/LED displays at various locations throughout Cuttack and several other cities.

5-During the first ODI against Sri Lanka in Guwahati on Tuesday, young tearaway fast bowler Umran Malik bowled a delivery at 156 kph to break his own record and bowl the fastest ball for India in international cricket.

  • In the 14th over of Sri Lanka’s innings, the 23-year-old reached the significant milestone. He served as India’s enforcer in the middle overs, picking up 3/57 in his eight overs.

6-Recently, after registering a 155 kmph ball in the first T20I match against Sri Lanka, Umran Malik passed Jasprit Bumrah (153.6 kmph) to hold the record for the fastest delivery by an Indian in international cricket.

7-India took a 67-run victory over Sri Lanka in the first game and a 1-0 series lead thanks to skipper Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli’s 45th ODI century.

  • Kohli used missed opportunities at 52 and 81 to lead India to a commanding 373/6.

8-The legendary batsman Virat Kohli on Tuesday matched Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 20 centuries in the format at home in India’s 67-run victory over Sri Lanka in the opening ODI of the series at Barsapara Cricket Stadium Guwahati. Kohli scored 113 off 87 balls, hitting 12 fours and a six, to tie the record.

9- Virat Kohli was named Player of the Match in Guwahati’s opening ODI matchup with Sri Lanka.

10- Four years prior, in the last ODI, West Indies and India, Kohli struck 140 against them, which was a century.
