* India and Pakistan joined SCO as full members on 9 June 2017 at a summit in Astana, Kazakhstan.
* Member States: 8 (China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan & Uzbekistan)
* Observer States: 4 (Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran & Mongolia)
* Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) was formed on 15th June 2001 with Headquarters Beijing, China.


11-PM Narendra Modi, who was attending the convocation ceremony at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay today i,e on August 11, announced a financial aid of ₹1,000 crore for the institute.


12-The government has announced that carrying the original Driving Licence and car’s Registration Certificate is not necessary, and a Digital copy saved on the DigiLocker or mParivahan app can be shown while checking by the traffic cops.


13-DigiLocker is the government’s cloud storage app, that will be used to store documents. This app can be downloaded on phones for free, after creating an account using Aadhaar, it displays all documents issued in the person’s name.


14-The Kerala government will foot the bill for Transgenders willing to undergo sex change operations. Earlier, the Tamil Nadu government had announced free sex change surgeries in government hospitals for transgenders


15-Operation ‘Madad’ has been launched by the Southern Naval Command (SNC) at Kochi for assisting the state administration and undertaking disaster relief operations due to the unprecedented flooding experienced in many parts of Kerala.


16- Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a Single-Window Integrated Environmental Management System, titled PARIVESH (Pro-Active and Responsive facilitation by Interactive, Virtuous and Environmental Single-window Hub) on the occasion of World Biofuel Day.


17-The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the ‘One District One Product’ Summit at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.


18-The World Bank has mandated the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) to arrange the first bond globally to be created, allocated, transferred and managed using Blockchain technology.


19-HDFC Bank today announced that its Deputy Managing Director Paresh Sukthankar has resigned and will vacate his post in 90 days.


20-According to a recently released RBI survey, 4 States Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu together received nearly 60% of the total remittances in 2016-17.


21-Indian skipper Virat Kohli overtook England’s Jonny Bairstow to become the highest run-scorer of the year 2018 in international cricket. Kohli made 1,404 runs in 25 innings this year, 15 more than the English wicketkeeper-batsman
Bairstow.


22-Shikhar Dhawan, who has scored 1,055 runs, is the second highest run-scorer among Indians in 2018.


23-Lionel Messi will replace Andrés Iniesta as Barcelona’s captain for the new season after the latter ended his 22-year stint at the Spanish club.


24-Justice Rajendra Menon was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court. Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal administered the oath of office.


25-The US Defence Department is going to create a Space Force as the sixth branch of the military by the year 2020.


26-The Managing Director (MD) of Bajaj Electricals, Anant Bajaj (41) passed away today after suffering a cardiac arrest.


27-Minister of State for Culture (I/C), Dr. Mahesh Sharma, today released 3 books. They are as follows

*‘Untold Story of Broadcasting’’ written by Dr. Gautam Chatterjee
