4-In his 80s and still operating a clinic in Bhopal’s Arera Colony, 4-H.H. Trivedi takes a deep breath as he recalls the tragic night of December 2–3, 1984, when the capital city of Madhya Pradesh was enveloped in poisonous methyl isocyanate (MIC) vapours.

5-The Regional Institute for Respiratory Diseases, which opened recently in the Idgah Hills neighbourhood of Bhopal, sees roughly 150–200 patients each day, of whom three to five percent are follow-up patients who were impacted by the toxic gas leak back in 1984, according to a senior physician affiliated with the institute.

10-On the night of December 2 and 3, 1984, the greatest and deadliest chemical disaster in history—the Bhopal Gas Tragedy—took place. That was 38 years ago. Numerous survivors continue to experience chaos in their life as a result of its consequences. In their assessment from 1984 to 1993, the ICMR reported 9,667 deaths that were directly related to the tragedy as of 1994. Statistics that extend beyond 1994 predict 23,000 people to exist by 2009.
