The state government contributes ₹7,500 and the central government contributes ₹6,000.

The scheme was launched by Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on 15 October 2019, with a release of ₹3785 crore, benefiting 38 lakh farmers in the state. To further support the scheme, Rythu Bharosa Kendras were launched on 30 May 2020. These centers provide seedlings, fertilizers, and seeds to the horticulture, aquaculture, and agriculture sectors.

In the year 2019-20, a total amount of ₹6,173 crore was spent on the scheme, and ₹6,928 crore was spent in 2020-21. Tenant farmers are also considered eligible for the scheme.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy recently distributed the benefits of the Rythu Bharosa- PM Kisan scheme and input subsidy to farmers who have suffered crop losses. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to farmers and has been in place for four consecutive years now.

The government has been transferring the benefits directly into the accounts of the beneficiaries, extending financial assistance of ₹1090.76 crore to 51.12 lakh farmers in the State. The benefits are provided in three instalments, with a total benefit in a year of ₹13,500 per beneficiary.

The total assistance extended during the last three-and-a-half-year tenure of the YSRCP government stands at ₹27,062.09 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. The government has even exceeded its election manifesto promise of providing ₹50,000 to farmers in four years by extending a benefit of ₹12,500 per annum. Instead, the government is now providing ₹67,500 in five years while paying ₹13,500 per annum.

The recent distribution of input subsidy worth ₹76.99 crore to 91,237 agriculture and horticulture farmers who have suffered crop losses to Cyclone Mandous in 2022 is a testament to the government’s commitment to supporting farmers. This brings the total input subsidy given to 22.22 lakh farmers who have suffered losses due to untimely rain and natural disasters since the YSRCP came to power to ₹1,911.78 crore.

With YSR Rythu Bharosa, the government is fulfilling its promise to provide financial assistance to farmers in the state. By providing direct transfers and input subsidies, the government is empowering farmers and helping them cope with crop losses and natural disasters. This scheme is an excellent example of the government’s commitment to the agricultural sector and its role in promoting the welfare of farmers in Andhra Pradesh.
