7- India is all set to launch two space missions every month. 31 launches are slated to take place over the coming 16 months.


8-Global commercial launch provider Arianespace is all set to launch three more heavy Indian satellites from its rocket port at Kourou in French Guiana over the next 9 months.


9- Indian space agency ISRO will launch GSAT-32 satellite in October 2019 to replace GSAT-6A which stopped communicating.


10- Pakistan jail authorities in Karachi have released 26 Indian fishermen as a goodwill gesture on the eve of the inaugural session of the National Assembly.


11-NASA launched Parker Solar Probe, the US space agency’s historic small car-sized probe, on its seven-year space odyssey. It will take it gradually closer to the Sun at 3.8 million miles.


12-Young Indian golfer Viaj Madappa clinched the maiden title on Asian Tour in Bengaluru.


13- India is all set to launch its second lunar mission on January 3 next year to land on the moon with a lander and rover.


14-Croatian discus thrower Sandra Perkovic, double Olympic and world champion, made history by securing her fifth European title.


15-Nobel Prize-winning writer V.S. Naipaul has died at the age of 85. He is known for works like ‘An Area of Darkness’ and ‘A House for Mr. Biswas’.

17- Actress-producer Dia Mirza unveiled a ‘wild anthem’ titled ‘Mere Desh Ki Zameen’.


18-Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) unveiled a bust of space pioneer Sarabhai in Bengaluru.


19-Actress Malaika Arora to judge a Bollywood dance competition at the ongoing Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).

21-12th August is also World Elephant Day. The day is dedicated to the preservation and protection of the world’s elephants.


22-The Union Cabinet has approved continuation and revision of Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Post Matric Scholarship for Other Backward Classes Students for studying in India (PMS-OBC) till 2020.
* Since 1998-99. PMS-OBC is a flagship scheme of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, in operation.


23-Union Cabinet approved raising of 4 additional battalions i.e Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Delhi National Capital Region of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to strengthen India’s disaster response set up.


24-The Delhi Police has inducted an All-female Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team, making it the 1st unit of its kind in the country.


25-Lok Sabha has passed Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill, 2017 by voice vote to extend the facility of ‘proxy voting’ to overseas Indians.


26-Parliament has passed the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Second Amendment) Bill,2018 replacing an ordinance promulgated in this regard and amends Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.


27-The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has successfully launched its Parker Solar Probe, aimed to enter the Sun’s corona (outer atmosphere), where no spacecraft has gone before.


28-The Parker Solar Probe is the first NASA mission to be named after a living individual, Dr. Eugene Parker.


29-Union Cabinet has approved an extension of the term of Commission to examine the issue of Sub-categorization of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in Central List until November 2018. Head of this Committee is G. Rohini (former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Justice (Retd).


30-The Lok Sabha has passed Arbitration and Conciliation (Amendment) Bill, 2018 to help India become a hub for domestic and global arbitration for settling commercial disputes.


31-India’s 3rd largest private-sector bank, Axis Bank became 1st bank in the country to introduce Iris Scan Authentication feature for Aadhaar-based transactions through its micro ATM tablets.


32-Nobel Prize-winning author V S Naipaul (85), who was born to parents of Indian descent, has passed away. ‘A House for Mr. Biswas’ and ‘A Bend in the River’ are some of his popular novels.


33-Rekha Sharma (54) was appointed as Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW).


34-Justice Gita Mittal was sworn in as the 1st woman Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court.
